Checking Tire Tread and Pressure

If you haven’t replaced your tires recently, it's time to check your tire tread. Tread is essential for giving your car traction on the road. Over time, tread wears out. Keeping your tires properly inflated helps to reduce wear and extend the life of your tires.

You can check your tire tread by inserting an upside-down penny into the tread. If all of Abraham Lincoln’s head is visible, your treads are worn out and it is time to replace the tire. Unnecessary wear on your tires can occur if your tire pressure isn’t kept at the level recommended in your vehicle’s owner manual. Check your tire pressure with a pressure gauge, and add or remove air to get the pressure to the proper level.

If you’re still unsure about your tire condition, schedule an appointment at Carbone Subaru in Troy and have your tires inspected.
